SC daggerboard well repair

Hi Tom, Matt,
I need to replace the felt strip that holds the daggerboards in place on my SC19, what shuold I use for glue? Is there any particular prep work required? I was going to clean the old glue off with acetone or varsol or whatever would disolve it and then scuff up the surface with some sandpaper clean the well and re-glue, any suggestions?
I think there is supposed to be a shock cord or something that keeps the boards in place when not in the water, where does this cord attach to the boat?
