SC 20 - sailing without jib

Looking for feedback on the performance of a SC20 without a jib. I have a SC20 and will likely do most of my sailing solo. I am trying to decide if the self-tacking jib is worth the $$$, or if I can get by without a jib. Being a solo sailor I won't need the added power of the jib (and it would make rigging easier). Just not sure if the boat can be comfortable sailed w/o jib (how does it track, tack, weather helm ect?? Presume mast rake, board depth will impact performance .. I appreciate any comments or insight.

The 20 sails like a champ with or without the jib. Play the boards up and down to balance the helm. I furl the jib whenever I feel overpowered, tacking is not an issue. When tacking without the jib go easy on the helm and don't slam the rudders over. If you move the rudders hard over, they act like speed brakes and kill your chance of getting through the eye of the wind. If you stall out, the 20 is easily backed out of the tack.
