Can't use a standard jib with a self tacking set up, main would will work though. Sails should be here by the time I'm ready to go.

Re: SC 20 restore part 2
The finally came in, but I haven't been able to get them out on the water yet. Next weekend is the plan. Here they are, along with a picture of the finished boat. Tom is building a forward triangle tramp for it, that'll be the last thing I plan to do to it. I'm pleased wi how everything turned out.
I did get it out on the water a couple weeks ago, but with the tall rig I picked up. The first test sail went well, the boat felt good and had a nice helm to it. I forgot to take pictures though. I'm planning on bringing it to the Duck Cup next month, if your coming you can get a first hand loom at it!

Took her out with the tall rig briefly for a shakedown sail. still taking it easy, making sure everything is as it's supposed to be. I didn't have my bigger purchase blocks due to an issue so had to go with 7:1, couldn't sheet in near where I needed to be.
That tall rig is quite intimidating, lots of power!

Great project.
What is the black material applied to top of the hulls?

I bought the stuff in the close out section, the B grade stuff. I couldn't find anything wrong with it and have ordered 5 sheets all together over a 2 year period. The exact pattern I used is the molded diamond 'B' stock part number SHTB.
Here's what it looks like up close

Agreed Mac ...... I will say this they were handy capped by being three up on it and I was solo on my SC15. Nice spin recovery to by the way.

Re: SC 20 restore part 2
Very impressive restoration. I am thinking of adding the hydro-turf to the hulls of my SC20. Did you purchase the material with the 3M adhesive pre-installed, or did you glue it with another product? The website states the 3M adhesive "not for curved surfaces". Thanks.

Re: SC 20 restore part 2
I bought the 'B' stock without adhesive amd used contact cement. The hydroturf on the newest 20 is still in great shape going on 2 years.
